#TACTIX :: The Truth About Healthy Diet

Are Fads For Real?

Atkins, Keto, Carnivore, Paleo, South Beach – the list goes on and on. There are so many fad dietary trends out there, trying to remember them all is more exhausting than leg day (active recovery and massage therapy can help).

The latest craze was Keto. The short-term effects were great. Although the validity of long-term keto is still in question. With all of this information, pseudo-science and quasi-knowledge out there, which diet is the one that yields the greatest results?

The truth sometimes hurts, so prepare to be offended: Americans want to believe that a month on one of these diets will cure any ailments, help one look good at the beach, maybe attract a mate or just simply increase feelings of well-being and overall quality of life. This is false. Sure, you may see some short-term improvements, but returning to prior eating habits will undo all of that work in half the time.

What Does “Healthy Diet” Really Mean?

The long-term answer? Understanding that “diet” simply describes eating habits. If you swing through those golden arches once a day, frequent the local bar for wing-night, and sit on the couch shoveling chips on down the ole’ gullet while binge-watching Netflix, chances are you’re probably not feeling or looking your best. By making better decisions for every meal, you will create better habits that last and feel better because of it.

The real key to having a sustainable, lifelong “healthy diet” is being in control. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with pizza night or a slice of cake at a birthday party. Indulge! With that in mind, don’t over-consume. Consider alcohol – you always hear “in moderation”. Well, that also applies to food (and everything else that can be considered a vice).

Boom. That’s all. Secret revealed. Mystery solved.

In order to feel and look great, you need to make active decisions at every meal. Drink enough water, get your vitamins, count your macros and be disciplined! You’ll be amazed at how fast people start to notice the difference. Soon, you’ll see it in yourself.

The Truth Hurts

If you we’re looking for some “Holy Grail” to a healthy diet, there isn’t one. Maintaining discipline and making informed decisions is the way. More importantly, don’t be afraid to enjoy your food. There’s all kind of delicious healthy cooking advice out there. And, when you don’t feel like being so healthy – indulge! Even “The Rock” has his cheat meals, which he proudly showcases to his millions of Instagram followers.

If it’s good enough for the absurd physique and work ethic of “The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment”, it’s good enough for you!
